Good luck for Astrid, my Sister

Hello everyone!
It's very nice to share with you again ❤
If you know, I have 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Now, I'd like to introduce my sister, Hendrika Astrid Dwiastuti. Her nickname is Astrid. Currently, I'm feeling a little bit sad because Astrid will be leaving me and my family soon to join "Indonesia Mengajar" for a year.

"Indonesia Mengajar" is a movement to contribute an intellectual aspect of life for the nation.
Please check the link below for complete information (Information provided in Bahasa):
https://indonesiamengajar.org

As a part of this movement, my sister Astrid will join the program to live in a village with rural society and dedicate herself to teach Indonesian children who live in the rural tribe. I know that being a teacher is her passion. She made her dream comes true. Honestly, I really proud of her.

There must be a lot of consequences that she should be facing during the programs, such as:

1. Difficult to communicate with family, friends, and her loved one due to limited internet connection/access.

2. Challenging place due to the location would be unpredictable in weather, water resources, transportation for mobilization, and access to get some foods.

3. Hygiene will be the consequence also, because nobody knows if the village will provide proper public toilet and water resources or not. It's also related to health for some places that need special treatment because of the risk of Malaria disease.

4. Culture shock. It'll be the challenging issue if someone has some difficulties to engage with the environment. Cultural compatibility is something that we should learn to survive in a new place wherever is it. At first, the adaptation might not be accepted for our culture, but sometime it should be practiced. Because, currently we are a part of that environment. We also didn't know the character from each childrens and their family background which will be the challenging part of teaching in a rural area.

I believe that my sister, Astrid will be ready for that consideration. Wish you luck for your dedication to our nation, Indonesia.

Before she goes, she will be attending 2 months training with "Indonesia Mengajar" supporting team to identify the location which suitable with her character and physical condition. Wherever your placement, I'll fully support your decision in life. I believe this step will open your mind, knowledge, and your ability to survive in a new places, that's an out of the box choice. I believe that you can do the assignment completely till finish. May this journey can lead you to the best path of your life in the future ❤ as I know that you're born to be a "helping hand" person.

Previously, Astrid worked at National Bank for 2 years and she is holding Bachelor Degree of Economic Development. Astrid always do something for the best. I always pray for her health. For me, your health is the most important, because health makes all the things possible.

Thank you for being the best younger sister in my life. Always be healthy and happy wherever you are. God bless Astrid.

Sincerely yours,
Fifi
